Hi l am Hamda Almehrzi,

You may know Covid-19. Covid-19 is a worldwide phenomenon, but for some reason people try to stay away from it because its harmful. It has travelled all around the world and its all over the news, but its home town is China. Today I’m going to talk about my story with covid-19.

On January the 16th , The National Emergency Crisis And Disaster Management Authority declared that the UAE is going into lockdown “No!” I yelled hitting myself with a pillow. Staying at home ?! All the time?! How will I adjust ?! I sprinted to my room, grabbed my phone, and slumped on my bed texting all my friends the news. My friend told me that the deaths in china are about 10,000 a day and Europe has no control people are dying and hospitals aren’t enough and Mecca has closed all her gates. I then looked up how many cases there were in my city. One-hundred fifty? Yesterday there were five! I was shocked, amazed, terrified I slowly walked into the bathroom, closed the door and screamed. “NO!”

I coughed as I got tested. Lockdown wasn’t as bad as I thought. We are going into level 2 so no lockdown. But since I got tested I will have to stay another two weeks. The next day I see everyone leaving their houses and coming back with takeout. I sit at home watching TV and doing university work while my Mum makes cookies. Mum challenges me to use my imagination to make “lockdown” better. I make a fort and pretend I am in a horror movie two weeks fly past. I get the results back. I have the virus.

Rain pelted on the roof and wind lashed the walls of the hospital. Yet. No weather could compare to the monster I was battling The wind howled like the evil cackle of the beast. I drew my sword, held my shield close to my chest. I didn’t blink, didn’t move, I didn’t flinch, my gaze never broke away from this monster that took over me. It lashed out a claw at my chest and the coughing qrew stronger, no man could brave without surrender. I sighed, dropped my weapons, I gave up. Corona, you win.
